This Slocum 43' Sailing Yacht that is for sale was bought new in 1982 while laying in Clear Lake Houston, Texas. I first saw this Stan Huntingford Design at the Annapolis boat show and was overwhelmed by it's spacious stand up room below. It is a very safe, well conceived blue water cruising yacht. In 1989 I was crossing the Atlantic on my way to Spain and was caught in a force 11 about 500 hundred miles east of New York. I had all the sails up with the wind at 55knts and no gunwales in the water. We did get the fore and main down but left the stay up and she acted as a storm sail. The heavy weather last 14 hrs. but found no damage in the morning. The whole trip there and back caused no damage to the boat even though more than our share of force 5 or 6s. This is a designed boat that surpasses the highest standards in construction and design.
